ソフトのレビューです。
インストールはやめたほうがいいです。

インストール時にプロテクトCDになっていて、ソフトをインストールすると同時にCDAC11BA.EXEというものがシステムにインストールされます。これはコピープロテクト監視プログラムのようですが、システムを不安定にする可能性があるので危険が伴います。

アンインストール方法は
http://www.longmanjapan.com/Longman_Support/LDOCE4.html
に記述されています。

ちなみに、vistaでのインストールは、その直後使えませんので、LDOCEのプロパティ（左クリック→プロパティ）を開いて「互換性」タブをクリックして、互換モード（Windows XP (Service Pack 2))をチェックすると使えるようになります。

もし、この付属CDを活用したいと考えるならば、中にあるldoce-dataフォルダ内のデータだけを使えるプログラム(たとえば、シェアウエアのjamming)を利用されることをお勧めします。

また、付属データはactivator やexample bankなどがあるのでデータ面ではお買い得です。

単語の説明が高校生であれば理解できる英単語を使用しており、例文も現代生活に即応していて豊富にあり、これだけでも英単語の微妙なニュアンスを知ることが出来ます。この使われている例文を使いこなすことでかなり英語力がアップすることが出来ると思います。生きた英語の見本のようなものが沢山あります。使える英文と言うような本が沢山ありますが、それよりもこの辞典の例文を使いこなせるようになることの方が英語上達の近道のように思われます。
新しい単語も採録されていますが、ただかなり新しい概念の単語については採録がない場合もあります。

~Despite the fact that this dictionary (LDCE) is developed for students, I, a proficient English speaker, have used the third edition over the past decade. It has been highly helpful when having to find out best-fit expressions. I found this new edition, which ameriolates almost all shortcomings the previous version has, is sumptuous at least in two points. Fisrt, information on collocation and idioms is given in detail. This is the very element that conventional dictionaries for the native~~ frequently lack. Second, words/phrases it contains are as many as 100,000 plus. Dictionaries for the non-native often limit the size of lexicon excessively but this one is a precious exception.~
