表紙を見ただけでも、うふふと笑ってしまう。京都在住経験者には、どこの景色が一目で知れることだろう。京大出身の作者による、京大生を主人公とする、京都が舞台の物語。
葵祭のバイトに始まり、祇園祭を経て、気づけば吉田神社で奉納舞。十人の大学生が集められて挑まされるのは、大学対抗のある競技。対戦するは、京大青竜会、京産大玄武組、立命館白虎隊、龍大フェニックスの４チーム。野球でもなければ、ラグビーでもない。さて、ホルモーとはなんぞや？
ホルモーがなにゆえ始まり、続くのか？　主人公達は謎の起源に迫るのでもなく、謎の解体を図るのでもない。巻き込まれて、盛り上がる。訳がわからなくても、わからないままに、続いていくもの。ホルモー自体が一つのお祭りのようなものである。伝統は続けることに意義がある、的な。
奇想天外な設定に、片思いの繊細な男心の描写、リアルな生活感。妙な迫力と勢いにのまれて一気に読んだ。深くは考えないで、世界を楽しむのがお勧め。
学生気分に戻りつつ、笑いながら楽しんだ末、読後に颯爽と香るは、春の青々しい楠の匂いだった。

何ともあほっぽい大学生らしさがにじみ出てます。
まず、題がずるい。
アマゾンでおすすめされて、ふーんと思っていたのに
ホルモーって響きが頭の中に住み着いてしまったので、思わず読んじゃったじゃないですか。

陰陽道なんかは出てくるけど
全体的にのんびりした話なので
「妖怪アパートの幽雅な日常」が好きな人には特にお勧め。
軽ーいし読みやすいですよ。

おそらくこの著者はスロースターターなのでしょう。前半は京都の歴史とかタイトルにある「ホルモー」の説明に終始して、少し退屈な印象を受けました。私は京都に住んだ経験があったので前半も面白く感じられる部分も多かったのですが…。

でも後半から面白くなってきます。というか急に勢いが出てくるのです。「青春」、「恋愛」、「友情」、「笑い」読んでいて心地よいキーワードが巧みに編みこまれていき、最後は綺麗にまとまります。読後感は爽快そのものでした。

でも間違っても感動を求めてはいけません。タイトルや表紙から想像できるようにこれは純粋な娯楽作品です。ハリウッドのB級映画を観る様な寛大な気持ちで読むことをお勧めします（笑）
