まず、実体験に基づく著者自身の育児に対する考え方なので、この方法が合う、合わないは読み手が判断すればいいと思うので、ここではあえて書かない。

ポイントとして、著者自身が3ヶ国語を話せること、インターナショナルスクールに通った経験から、本当にバイリンガルに育てたいなら親自身も話すべき、その国の文化を知らない親が子供をスクールに通わせることの問題点などが書いてあり、「そういった進路もあるのかなぁ」程度に考えていた自分には参考になりました。

また、小学校に入るまでは石垣島で暮らし、その後は東京で暮らす、という自分には出来ないが、子供を中心とした生活に対する考え方は見習いたいものがあります。

視点がとにかく子供を中心に据えた内容となっており、そこまで親は子供に気を配らないといけないのかな、と思ってしまうところもありますが、そこを差し引き、子供と向かい合う必要性を育児中の自分の中に再度呼び起こす、という意味でとても有用な本でした。

読み物としてはとても面白く読めました。この点では☆５つです。
ただ子育てに関しての部分はきれいごとが多い。書いてある通りに子育てできたら素晴らしいと思いますが…子育ては親の思うとおりに進まないのが現実。育児を片手間にやっている（しかも子育て経験の浅い）父親の意見だからだと思いますが、育児書に全く当てはまらない子供を育てた私（過労で病院送りになりました）には、その部分が少し不快でした。父親として子供を愛する姿勢は素晴らしいのですが、一般のサラリーマンの父親には真似できないのでは？育児書としては☆１つ。
