DUOの特徴の一つとして録音の内容が異なる二つのCDが別売りになっている事は大きな長所です。
学習者が使い方によってどちらか又は両方を選択出来るのは大きな強みではないでしょうか？
別の方も書いていますが、基礎用の録音パターンは以下の通りです。

■基礎用録音パターン
個人の意思は尊重しなくていはいけない。
　　　↓
We must respect the will of the individual.(スロースピード)
　　　↓
respect, will, individual(英語の発音のみ)
　　　↓
We must respect the will of the individual.(ナチュラルスピード)

■復習用録音パターン(参考)
We must respect the will of the individual.(ナチュラルスピード)

ここで基礎編を選択する必要があるのは、以下の３つの場合があると考えています。

１．本が無い環境で勉強したい(中級者)
２．英語のリズムを習得したい(初級者)
３．ナチュラルスピードにはついていけない(入門者)

まず、１の使い方について説明します。
基礎用の録音パターンの場合、最初に全文の日本語訳が出てくるので、中級者であれば分からない単語があったとしても大抵想像がつきます。
どうしても分からない単語や表現があれば、後で本を見て確認すれば良いのです。
推測しながら語彙を増やすと言うやり方はある程度英語を使う人は皆やっているやり方なので、あまり几帳面に構える必要はありません。
間違ってはいけないと言う強迫観念は語学の習得には不利に働きます。

次に２のパターン。
あまり英語に慣れていない人の場合、ナチュラルスピードの英語に対しては追っかけていくだけで精一杯になる場合があると思います。
実はこれも毎日数時間ナチュラルスピードの英語を聴いていれば解決する話（何ヶ月か続けていると、電池が無くなって音声再生のスピードが落ちたと錯覚する程度にはなると思います）なのですが、筋金入りになるまでにはやはりそれなりの期間がかかります。
なので、スロースピードの英語を一緒に発音して英語のリズムを習得する事で英語に慣れる早さを加速する方法が有効だと思います。
ナチュラルスピードの英語でそこまで確実に意識出来るのであればあなたは初級者ではありません。

最後に３のパターン。
語学は修行ではありません。
敢えて難しい事に挑戦するより、簡単な事を繰り返し練習する方が効率的でさえあります。
I'm sorry.と言う言葉を知っている事と、この言葉を言うべき時にとっさ（0.1秒の世界）に言えるのとは雲泥の差があります。
自信がなければ無理せずまずは基礎用を使ってみましょう。
また、初級者は別途簡単な単語を使ったスピーキングの練習もしてみる事をお勧めします。

Duo3.0CD基礎用は5枚のCDからなっていて、ヒアリングの練習には最適です。
といっても英文自体は復習用とかわりません。ではどう違うのだというと
復習用がひたすら英文だけを読んでいくのに対して、こちらは

１．個人の意思は尊重しなくていはいけない。
　　　↓
We must respect the will of the individual.
　　　↓
respect, will, individual
　　　↓
We must respect the will of the individual.

2.気楽に行けよ。大丈夫、すべてうまくいくさ。
　　　↓
Take it easy. I can assure you that everything will turn out fine.
　　　↓
Take it easy, assure A that, turn out
　　　↓
Take it easy. I can assure you that everything will turn out fine.

というように、まず日本語訳で大意を掴み、英文は話し、重要単語で
要点を述べ、最後にもう一度英文を述べるという形で進みます。
このCDには現代英語の重要単語1600語と熟語1000語が含まれており、
語彙力の強化に最適です。なお。復習用に付いている英文リストは
基礎用にはついていません。

この基礎用CDは値段が高いので一般的な学習方法（電車の中や机に向かって）の方はなくてもいいと思います．

このCDの利点は「日本語→英文→重要単語→英文」という流れになっているので，
本を見なくても文章がほぼ理解できることです．

私は1日2時間かけて車で通学しているのでその時間を有効利用したいと思い購入しました．

CDは聞けるが本を見ることが出来ない時間に学習したい方は購入されると役に立つと思います．

以下，私の学習方法です．

■本の進度とは関係無しに基礎用CDを何度も車の中で聞く．
（自然と例文を覚えることが出来ます）

■机に向かって本の学習を進めていく．
（知っている文章と単語ばかりなので覚えるのがラクです）

■本で学習した部分はなるべくその日中（できれば直後）に付属の復習用CDで確認．

■本の内容を適宜反復学習を行う
（常に車でCDを聞いているので確認程度で済みます）

基礎用CDで英文を聞いただけで内容が理解できるようになったら，
復習用CDに切り替えることにより効率的に学習を進めることが出来ます．
