確かに、写真も綺麗で読みやすく、ハーブの育て方から載せていますが、
まったくの初心者から使える本ではないと思います。
全体に渡って大まかにしか書いていませんし、成分などの細かい情報や、
なぜ効くのかなどは一切触れていません。
ハンドブックと言うだけあって「確認の為にもう一度調べる」と
いうような使い方ならかなり便利でしょう。

初心者の方には、この本と、もう一冊、ハーブについての詳細なデータや
使用法（特に注意すべき点）の載っている本をお求めになる事をお勧めします。

既に絶版となってしまったペネラピ氏のこのハンドブックより一回り小さい英国ハーブ療法のハンドブックを以前購入していました。前回のものは、ハーブごとにアドバイス、有効な利用法、栽培収穫に関すること、ハーブの由来など詳しく書かれていて、また今回の症例別の内容もほとんど網羅されていたものだったので、利用価値が高く、今回の新しいものにも多大に期待して購入したのですが、症例別の利用方法と抽出法とか････だけで前回の焼きまわしという感が否めません。前回のハンドブックが大変素晴らしかっただけに寂しい思いをしました。もちろん今回はじめてペネラピ氏の本を購入される方にはやはり素晴らしいハンドブックになるとは思うのですが。

本格的または、実践するために持っているというような本ではなく、パラパラと見ては楽しむような携帯サイズの本。
内容はサイズとページにしては、うまくまとまっていおり、とにかく駆け足でざっと「ハーブやレメディーは、こういうものですよ」という感じ。
実践を目的とせず、初めての人でとにかく内容だけ知りたいとか、見て楽しむなどの人に向いていると思います。
ですが軽量でサイズも小さくじゃまにならないために、私はよく持ち歩いて、時間つぶしに見たりしています。

この本は、ハーブの育て方~作り方まで書いてあります。全ページカラーで、ざっと１~１０まで書いてある本かなと思います。
