私自身も色弱なので興味深く読んだ。カラーのイラストが豊富でとにかく読みやすいし、印象に残る。資料も充実していてこれ一冊読めば大体色弱のことは分かると思う。まず、男の子の20人にひとりが色弱であるという事実にびっくり。私も知らなかった。著者自身の体験をもとに小さな頃から、小学校の色覚検査の思い出、大学受験で希望の大学に行けなかったこと、就職のことなどを書いている。このあたりは同世代としてまったく共感できる。私も理科系に進のを断念したからだ。最近は進学や就職についてはあまり差別がなくなってきたことなども知ることができた。コンピュータの助けによって著者はデザイナーとして仕事をしているようだ。これもちょっとびっくり。遺伝の事は私自身あいまいだったが、正確な図が載っているのでこれも助かる。私の娘に男の子の孫ができると半分の確率で色弱になるらしい。また、カラーユニバーサルデザインというものを提案してくれていて色弱に優しい社会が実現するのも近いかもしれない。優しい、ふんわかとした本ながら、しっかりと知識も身につけられる。明るく役に立つ色弱の本だ。今までにはこんな本はなかった。早速、娘たちに贈った。

本と言ったらほとんどマンガと雑誌しか読まない私ですが、この本は分かりやすくてなぜかすぐ読み終わってしまいました。私の父が色弱なため、自分の子供の男の子の1/2が色弱に、女の子なら1/2が保因者になることも分かりました。もっと早くこの本があったらよかったのになぁ。周りの人や、家族ができた時には自分が状況を詳しく分からないにしろ、色弱というものについて話しをすことが必要だなと思いました。

イラストは著者本人が描いている。結構うまい。また、全体的に分かりやすい。シミュレーションの画像がたくさん載っているので、色弱の人はこのように見えるのかと分かる。学校で検査が廃止されたことや、今では理科系に問題なく行けることなど新しい知識がたくさんある。色弱でも医者にもなれるらしい。私はデザインをしているが、今まではあまり色弱に対しては馴染みがなかった。アドビの新しいクリエイティブスーツ4.0にカラープルーフ機能が載ったのが日本のノウハウらしいのはすごい話だと思う。目の構造とか、色の見え方などもイラスト入りで描いてあり、知らないことばかりでためになった。
