   著者は1908年、駆け出しの新聞記者時代にアンドリュー・カーネギーと出会い、彼の要請で誰もが成功できる秘訣の体系化に着手した。この企画には500名以上の各界成功者が協力し、52年後の1960年に、自己実現のための原理原則を体系化したPMAプログラムという形で完成した。著者はその間、ウッドロー・ウィルスン大統領の広報担当補佐官、フランクリン・ルーズベルト大統領の顧問官を務め、大富豪の1人としても有名になった。

   本書はナポレオン・ヒルの編み出した成功プログラムのガイダンスブックに相当する。1967年刊行のロングセラーであり、自己啓発書としては代表的なものである。「強く、強く、強く信じよ」「この世には、恐れるものなど何もない」といった言葉が並んでいる。

   数ある自己啓発書の中で、本書に特徴的な点を挙げるとすれば、50年以上かけて練り直されたノウハウが現在に至るまで支持を得ていること、すなわち時代の変化を越える普遍性が実証済みである、ということだろうか。「あなたがその気であるならば、本書を十二分に活用することにより、成功と心の平安をともに獲得できることをお約束する」といった頼もしい一文も見られる。

   全編を通じてアメリカン・ドリームやピューリタニズムといったアメリカ的発想が垣間見える本書は、自己啓発書としてのみならず、アメリカ文化・社会への理解を深めるための本としてもおもしろい。（加島有理）

現在の自分は、過去の自分の潜在意識の結果だという主旨”には、なるほどと思わせられてしまいました。現在、私は病気から社会復帰し、通院しながら仕事をしておりますが、やはりこの本のとおりで、心あたりがあります。
ほんの少し考え方を前向きにし、自分自身にも判りにくい潜在意識にもそれを

実行させて、本書の目指す幸せな人生（富、健康、家庭の和など）を、ぜひ実現させてみたいです。

数年前にモーグルの上村愛子さんが愛読書にされているということを聞いて読んでみました。原題は[GROW RICH! WITH PEACE OF MIND]。「成功とは目標を達成していくその過程のことである」という定義の通り、人生において心の充足感という大切なものを得るために大変役立つ一冊です。特に｢逆境の中には、すべてそれ相応かそれ以上の大きな利益の種子が含まれている」というフレーズは私の一生の財産であると言っても過言ではありません。上村氏の様々な苦闘を乗り越え続けているエネルギーの源はこの本にあったのではないでしょうか。

やるかやらないかは本人次第。

日本にもたくさんの自己啓発本はあるが、それらの内容は、
この本から抜粋したとも言っても良い程、基本を押さえた、
一冊です。

アメリカや海外のやり方として、とらえるか、自己流に
それを理解して行うかは自分次第だと思いますよ〜

変な自己啓発本を読むなら、これ一冊を読んだ方がイイ。
