メキシコ市内の美術館では、一万円近くする
オールカラーの画集が置いてありましたが、
なにしろ彼女の描く不思議な世界観と
アーティスト本人の存在に魅了され
（バロはとても綺麗な人でもあります）
バロについて書かれているものでは、日本で数少ない
この本書を手に取ってみました。

彼女の手記や、訳者の（親友キャリントンなども含む）
インタビューなどを収めた貴重なものです。
少々和訳の中で、複雑で読みにくい箇所がありますが、
レメディオスの頭の中もそんな風になっていたのかなと
思うと、微笑ましい限りです。

絵に至っては、３０点ほど白黒で、
彼女の作品が（彼女自身のコメント付きで）載っています。
じっくり眺めるには少し印刷が劣っているのでその場合は
画集をお勧めするのですが、兄に宛てて書かれたコメントに
ユーモアがあふれてて一読の価値あり。

エロスの戯れ、悪魔、などと濃いような言葉で紹介されていますが、
私的な感想としては、彼女はあらゆる事柄において、
遊び心をもち、子供のような自由な心、そしてその上で
綿密に計画された思想で作品（あるいは散文）
作りをしていたのではないのかなと思います。
どちらにしても、色々なバランスが実に絶妙なアーティストです。

とにかく日本でも格段に情報量が少ないバロ。
感じ方は人それぞれですが、もっとたくさんの人が、
彼女について、知ってもらえれば良いなと思います。
