文化大革命の最中、ほとんど息絶えたかと思われる中国におけるキリスト教。でも神様は決してちいさな祈りを聞き逃さないのです。
これはサブタイトルの「奇跡と感動の物語」なんて安っぽいものではなく、ブラザー・ユンと他の家の教会の宣教師達の命をかけた壮絶な戦いのドキュメントです。
彼らに起こる奇跡のあまりの多さに驚かされ、架空の物語のような錯覚を起こしてしまいそうですが、使徒行伝に重なる部分も多く、
これが本来のキリスト教の世界なのかもしれません。
ブラザー・ユンが本書で言っている通り、私たちはあまりにも物質的なものに恵まれています。それゆえ彼ら中国のクリスチャン達のようにすべてを捨てて極貧で迫害に耐える生活に望んで入っていけるかというと不可能に近いことです。
ですがそれが神様が私たちに与えた課題なのかもしれません。
ぜひぜひ映画化して、多くの人が中国のクリスチャンの実情を知り、自分の生活を振り返る機会が与えられることを願います。
