僕は英文学をやっているのですが、学校の教授がこれをすすめているのを聞いて思い切って買ってみました。

楽しいです。これを眺めているだけで一日が過ぎます。今までになかった年表なのです；というのも、世界史の中に日本史が組み込まれていて、例えばインドで何が起こったときには日本では何が発明されていた、なんてことが一目で解るんです。

イギリスで捨て子育児院が開設された年には、日本で貿易制限令が出され、アメリカではウイスター親子がガラス工場の操業に成功したり。または、江戸に天文台が設置された年には、ロバートフックが精神治療に大麻使用を示唆したり、クーナウが「クラヴィーア・ソナタ」を作曲したり。

確かにこの本は松岡氏の恣意的な情報収集に基づいたものですが、
それでも自分自身であれやこれや、情報のコスモスにおけるＡとＢとＣ・・・の関連性などを見つけ、シナプスを張り巡らすことができます。

文学をやる人にもおすすめです。アメリカの作家が作品Ａを発表したのと同時期に、日本では作品Ｂが発表された。その二者はあまりにも酷似している、これは「同時性」の好例である、なんて見方もできます。

最後に、個人的な感想になりますが、明朝体がやや「新世紀エヴァンゲリオン」を彷彿させて、ページをパラパラとめくり、斜め読みをしても楽しくなります（エヴァは極太明朝体でしたが）。

歴史はあなたの歴史でもあります。この本を活用して、歴史とあなたの繋がりを再確認してください。

色彩豊かに年表を作っている。
歴史に応じて、分類ごとに系列的に記載しているのもよい。
すでに発行後２０年近くたっているので、改訂版がでるのを期待する。
できれば、余白は少なくして、冊子を小さくしてほしい。

時々、部分部分を眺めては楽しんでいます。
その年（時期）の１０大ニュース（項目はもっと多いし、見せ方もきれい）を見る感じで見ています。
政治の流れが分かる歴史年表は多いですが、この本は、社会、文化を含めたその時の空気みたいなものを想像できる気がします。
