ミヒャエル・エンデの詩と、ビネッテ・シュレーダーの絵のコラボです。絵本なのか詩集なのか迷います。エンデのちょっと難解で哲学的な詩の世界にぴったりなイラストが添えられています。モノクロの世界でいつまでも字面と共に眺めていたいような気がします。
『綱渡り』という詩は宇宙まで渡ってしまうというそのグローバルな展開に心奪われました。あとは、韻を踏んだ詩が多く、読んでいても観ていても楽しいです。たぶん、読むたびに印象が違うだろうと思える一冊です。

この本を買ったひとは、おそらくエンデのファンの方がほとんどではないでしょうか。
でもごめんなさい。
わたしはシュレーダーの絵が見たくて買いました。

ビネッテ・シュレーダーの線画を見るのは初めてです。
いままで幻想的に彩られた絵本しか知らなかったのです。
デッサンの確かさ、アニメーション的な手法、そこかしこに潜んでいるくすぐり・・・。
無彩色であっても、そこにエンデのことばの描くドラマを、
よりいっそう感じさせずにはおきません。

酒寄さんが『影のミシン』ではなく『影の縫製機』と訳したところもよいです。
声に出して読んでも自然。やたらと漢字を使わない訳文は、見た目にもひとつの絵のよう。
クロス装に箱入。
愛蔵版として、書棚を飾る本として、コレクター魂も満足させる一冊。

　ミヒャエルエンデは、間違いなく世界を代表する賢者の一人であり、優れた作家であったと今も私は思っています。エンデの詩画集ということで期待して購入しました。エンデの詩の中には、さすがはエンデと思えるものもあり、十分に満足しました。しかし、絵の方はいかがなものでしょう。私は、もっとエンデ作品にふさわしい絵を描ける人がいるのに…と少し残念に思いました。あの人なら、この詩にどんな絵を添えるだろうかと想像してみました。
