あずま先生が昔描いていたマンガの「より集め」って感じでしょうか。
・「天地無用！」
・「バトルアスリーテス大運動会」
のマンガが載っています。
元ネタを知らなくても結構楽しめます。

この後継作品に「あずまんが2」というのもあります。
合わせてチェックしてみて下さい。

あずま氏の比較的初期の作品を収録している。天地無用！と大運動会の４コマや短編漫画で構成されている。ギャグのセンスは大ヒット作のあずまんが大王に通ずるものがる。この漫画を見た後、天地無用！と大運動会を見直したくなった。ただ、明らかにファンを対象にしているので、天地無用！と大運動会を見たことのない人、興味のない人にとって面白いかは疑問。その意味ではあずまんが大王のようなものを期待すると、ちょっと違うものを感じるかもしれない。

あずまきよひこが、パイオニアLDCから出たオリジナルアニメの販促グッズや付録などに描いた一連の4コマ・ショートコミックをひとまとめにしたものが元祖「あずまんが」です。
のちに「あずまんが大王」の大ヒットで旧作を求める声が高まり、元祖についていたCD-ROMを外し、お求めやすい版型と価格にリメイクしたのがこのリサイクルです。

「天地無用！」や「バトルアスリーテス　大運動会」といったタイトルに見覚えがない人が読んで果たして楽しめるかというと、全く大丈夫。　読み終わるといつのまにか砂沙美やあかりといったキャラクターについて詳しくなっている自分に気づくはず。
