   みどり色の大きな「すいか」が、どっしりと置かれている。ページをめくると、「さあ　どうぞ」の言葉とともに、みかづき型に切り分けられた、真っ赤なすいかがひと切れ。フォークもちゃんと、添えられている。

   くりは、イガから出して、皮をむいて。ぶどうはきれいに洗われ、水滴が光っている。りんご、なし、もも、いちご…まず丸ごとの果物を見せ、次にすぐ食べられる状態にしたものを紹介していく。

   最後のバナナだけは、ちょっと違う。房からはずしただけで、「さあ　どうぞ」。そして「ばななのかわ　むけるかな？」。次にバナナを食べるときには、子どもはきっと大喜びで皮をむきたがるはず。

   甘い香りが漂ってきそうなほど、細部までていねいに描かれた果物たちに思わず手を伸ばしたくなる。淡い光をあてたようなふんわりとした描き方が、ただリアルなだけではないやさしい雰囲気を作っている。食べることへの興味を存分に引き出してくれる平山和子の食べ物の絵本には、ほかに『やさい』、『おにぎり』、『いちご』がある。（門倉紫麻）

よい「絵」本です。絵本ですから、観ないと解りません。
でも本当に絵本というのはこういうものだと思いました。
生きていくのに「食べる」ことは大事なこと。楽しいこと。やさしい、うれしいこと。リアルでありながらほのぼのとしたタッチの絵は、そんなことたちを素直に感じさせてくれます。
ストーリーがない分、会話が出来ます。お勧めです。

同じ作者の絵本を他にも3冊持っているが、この本が作者の最高作品であろう。生後8ヶ月くらいから楽しめるファースト絵本として最適。果物のみずみずしさ、食器の絵の美しさを丁寧に子供と見る事で、ぐっと引き込まれる贅沢な本です。ひらがなを読まない外国人の友人の子供にプレゼントしたところ、ユニバーサルな果物が多く描かれているので非常に喜ばれた。

子供が７ヶ月のころ、
図書館の絵本の読み聞かせの会ですすめられた１冊です。

大きくてカラフルで、本物のそっくりなくだものたち・・・。
とってもおいしそう。

購入してから1年ほどたちますが、
いまでは、絵のくだものをつまむまねをして、
口に持っていき、もぐもぐと食べるまねをしています。
子供の大好きな本です。

ぜひ、お子さんに食べさせてあげてください。
