金児 昭
1936年、東京都生まれ。東京大学農学部農業経済学科卒業後、1961年、信越化学工業に入社。38年間、経理・財務の実務一筋。92~99年、常務取締役(経理・財務、法務、資材担当)。現在、経済評論家・経営評論家。信越化学工業顧問。日本CFO協会最高顧問。94~97年、公認会計士試験(筆記・口述)試験委員。98~2000年、金融監督庁(金融庁)顧問。信越化学工業在職時に職務上、国際M&Aに多数携わり、ビジネスマンとして社交ダンスの必要性を痛感、習得に努める。96年~、社交ダンス教師有資格者(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

　学生時代は、アルバイト（と勉学）に明け暮れ、ダンス習得など思いもよらなかった。社会人になって２年目、職場にキュートな女性が入ってきた。その子が社内親睦会で別の男性社員と見事なジルバを踊った。気持ちが焦がれた私はダンス教室に通い始めた。しかし仕事に追われ、たった１ヵ月半であえなく退会。収穫はほぼゼロ。それから３０余年。もう還暦も間近だ。“Shall we dance?”のビデオ鑑賞だけで終わるのか・・。そしてこの本に出逢う。著者の金児さんはなんとダンスを始めたのは５０代になってからだと言う。信越化学という大会社で国際業務をしている中で、欧米人の懐に飛び込むには、社交ダンスの習得が必須と一大決心をして、レッスンに挑戦。ついに１０年前ダンス教師の資格をとった。現在も信越化学の顧問をしつつ、ダンスを楽しんでいると――。不思議なことに、ダンス用語は例えば‘クウィック・クウィック・スロー’というように、どの種目もすべて英語。本書は、ダンス用語７４９語を「世界一やさしい英和対訳」で著した、と著者はいう。私も定年後にダンスに挑戦しようか。そのために教習所で恥をかかないように、基本用語のいくつかを覚えておこうか・・・。本書を前に、いま、こう思っている。ブルース、ワルツ、タンゴ、からジルバ、サンバ、ルンバなど１４種目が踊れたら・・・。定年後も捨てたものではなさそうだ。
