UML2.0の内容を詳しく、例と解説で紹介している。
UML1.3には、（多少日本語離れしていたが）UML定義書の日本語訳があったし、ほかにも日本語の良書があった。
しかし、UML2.0には、定義が広くなったせいで、概要や、UML1.xを焼きなおしたような書籍はあったが、全体にわたる詳細を知ることのできる日本語の解説本がこれまでなかった。この本はとてもわかりやすく、UML2.0を教えてくれる。

この本は、単に、UMLの文法解説だけでなく、実用編では、ビジネスモデリングや要件定義から、ソースコード作成にいたるまでに、どのようにUMLを活用するか、という例も載っている。

これは、ツール作成者ではない、モデル作成者を対象にした、UML2.0日本語解説書の決定版である。そういいきれる。

これからUMLに挑戦する方も、UML2.0でどう変わったかを知りたい方も、ともに満足できるだろう。

お勧めします。

専門書というよりは、解説書という感じで、UMLを網羅的に解説している。

内容の配分も、実際にUMLを使っている人の実感とそれほど離れていないような気がする。
技術要素についての解説は妥当である。

UMLの専門家になろうという人には、違う方向へ導いてしまうかもしれない。

実際の仕事場で、「その場で使える」ことは間違いない。
「しっかり学べる」かというと、中途半端かもしれない。

現場で実際に仕事で使っている人からすると、仕様の解説の域を出ていないかもしれない。
本当に必要な技術要素の組み合わせは、自分で考えないといけないかもしれない。

UMLの入門者の方にも、すでにUML1.xを使っている方にもオススメできる本です。前半はUML2.0の表記の解説、後半は実際に開発プロセスにどのようにUML2.0を利用するかを解説しています。図が豊富でわかりやすく前半と後半で２冊にしてもいいぐらいのボリュームです。単にUML1.xの例をUML2.0に置き換えたような本ではなく、積極的にUML2.0ならではの表記を開発に活用していますので、本当のところUML2.0を使うとこれまでのUML1.xモデリングとどのように変わるのかよくわかりました。
