和算の世界が大好きですが、知識はあまり（ていうか、ほとんど？）ありません。
本書は新書のような内容で、勉強になって、しかもたいへん楽しく読めました。
数学を勉強としてというよりも娯楽としてたしなんでいた江戸時代。算額奉納、遺題継承。わくわくします。
算額というと、なんとなく幾何が多いイメージがありましたが、58ページで紹介されている８次方程式を解いた算木の算額には仰天です。ほかにも、和算には「ゼロ」「無限」の概念がなかったなど、知らなかったことをいろいろ知ることができました。
私のように、好きだけど専門的な知識はない、というような読者におススメです。
