アニメーター、漫画家、演出家としても活躍している安彦良和さんの特集です。寄せられている記事を読むとガンダムに関連する縛り、アニメを辞めた理由、安彦さんの作家性を掘り下げた記事が目立ちます。いしかわじゅんに「動き」が書けない漫画家と評された憤り、けして安彦良和大絶賛という記事ばかりではないようです。本人のロングインタビューも収録されていますが、ジ・オリジン取り組みの経緯と開戦前史への取り組みの理由についても触れられています。王道の狗の新装版で80頁にわたる書き下ろし追加があったことも初めてしりました。好きな作品なので読んでみたいと思っています。

安彦氏の作品はガンダム以外はあまり知られていませんが、1作ごとに独自の作品感を構築し、何より読みやすく面白いと思います。レイアウトの見事さ、重量感、スピード巻、そして手の早さでも定評のある安彦氏。目の表情というか芝居にキャラクターの個性を感じることが出来ます。

反骨の主人公、やさしい幼馴染、憎らしい美形仇役、大型機の男たち、はねっかえりの弟分、妹分。謎の美女、美少女、名も無き群集、軍団。その底辺に流れるやさしさという水脈。私が感じる安彦作品とはそんな感じです。ジ・オリジン1巻で退避しながら子供と逸れてしまった母親が「ああ、ユーリ、ここにいたのね。」とちゃんと再会できたように描かれていました。なんか、氏の人柄が偲ばれますね。


これを機会にガンダム以外の安彦作品を読む機会になれば良いのではないのでしょうか?。
