実際に手を動かしながら読み進めていくタイプの本なので、知識を早く習得しやすいというのが良い点だと思います。ゲームを作る過程がとても参考になりました。

ただ、気になるのが内容の薄さです。写真が無駄に大きかったり、1枚ですむところを数枚使っていたり、半分か4分の1程度で十分なところを大きな写真をいくつも使ってページ数を稼いでいる感があります。そのせいもあって、二日で読み終えてしまいました。

私は他のプログラム言語の知識があるのでそんなに戸惑うことはありませんでしたが、初心者が読むことを考えた場合、メソッドなどについて説明不足があるのではと思いました。
データベースとの連携のところでは、PHPだけでなくPHP以外を使ったケースも書かれているともっと良かったのではないでしょうか。

私が購入した本は初版ということもあり、校正不足がとても気になりました。『プログラミング』を『往路倉ミング』と書かれていたり、サンプルコード中の、本文と照らし合わせるための数字が関係ない場所に書かれていたり、書かれているはずの数字が書かれていなかったり、コードの間違いなど、一度読めば気が付くレベルの間違いが校正されていない点がとても気になりました。これは出版社の問題かもしれませんが。
実際にゲームを作り、それを少しずつ改良していくというのはとっつきやすく、楽しみながら読み進めることができるのではないでしょうか。

html以外で入力画面を作りたいので、flashとactionscriptにたどり着きましたが、flashがいまいちシックリこない。そんな時、この本に出会いtypinggameを本の通りに作っていくとイメージが具体的になりました。コンパクトなプログラムを例題としているので、必要な知識はこれだけで当面は充分だと、読者に達成感を与えてくれる良書です。ただ、dbの操作の勉強には別の本が必要です。私は「秀和システム」の「ラーニングバイブルflashMXサーバーサイドスクリプト編」が大変役に立ちました。（ワンフレーム方式というのがシックリこないですが・・・）。しかしプログラム（dbのphp部分）や、本文に校正ミスがあるので色々推理しながら修正しましたが、これが知識の整理に役立ちました（少し皮肉です）。ひとつの本で全てが解るという本はないので、flashをdbのインターフェースに使いたい時に、この２冊を使い分けるのもひとつの方法とおもいます。
