仕事で１年以上、英語圏とメールをやり取りしていく中で、ほのかに感じていたこと･･･
「メールは短くて最低限の礼儀を尽くしているほうが好まれる！」
ほのかに感じていたことを、この本が肯定してくれました（爆）
特に助かったのは「注意する・忠告する」の項。
ともすれば、仕事先との関係を悪化させるかもしれないけれども、伝えずには仕事が成り立たない･･･そんな場面にぴったりな例文集もあり、実践的に役立っています。

かゆいところに手が届く･･･難をいえば、あまりにも初心者に丁寧に書かれすぎていることかな？でも中級英文メールライターのニーズも満たしているので、意地悪せずに星を５つにします。

春から移動になり、海外とのメールのやりとりをしなければならなくなりました。
英語なんてもう１０年以上も使ってないし、ましてやビジネス英語なんて・・・
結論からいうと、かなり使えます。
でも、「やってはいけない」流儀でメールを半年以上書いていたため、ちょっと冷や汗ものです。
この手の本はいろいろ読みましたが、一番使える本でした。

日本のことを日本人が率先して外国に伝えていく努力が国際コミュニケーションの第一歩であることを理解し、「自国のことをちゃんと説明できる、とことん日本人であることが真の国際人だ」という思いを持って、読んでいただくことをお勧めする。如何に自分の主張を押し通すか・・・。しかも「誠意」があれば気持ちが伝わるだろうと思っている方。残念ながらそれは「伝わりません」と、断言する筆者の言葉は大変に重い。
言葉の力、伝える力とはいったい何なのか？また、どうすれば伝わるのか？
アメリカ大統領バラク・オバマ氏の「オバマ演説集」が、４０万部を超える大ヒットとなっている。こちらもキーワードは「ことばの力」である。
日本人の多くも魅了したオバマ大統領の「イデオグラフ」というテクニックは、覚えやすくインパクトのある言葉やフレーズを政治的スローガンとしたものである。こうした人々（一般の消費者）を説得する技術をレトリック（修辞学）とも言うが、こうした力強いメッセージつまり伝える力に世界は反応したのであろう。
有元氏の著書には、オバマ演説集にも負けないくらいの『生きた』レトリックがたくさん掲載されている。悪い例をあげ、なぜいけないのか？も指摘してくれている。親切な方である。
