この本は、夫がシュタイナーの研究家である、広瀬牧子さんが、ごく一般的な「初心者ママ」として第一子の子育てをしていた時期から、シュタイナーの考え方を理解しはじめた第二子の幼児期までの子育てを、自身の考え方の変化とともに見つめた本である。シュタイナーは子供の成長や発達段階をふまえ、「その時期に、子供の発達のために必要」な事をするのが大切という理論で子供にかかわっている。おもしろいのは、シュタイナーの理論を理解すると、今の日本の子育ての常識といわれるものは、ことごとく、子供の発達にとっては害になるといわれるものである事だ。ぜひ、この続編である「児童期・青年期編」も合せて読んでほしい本である。

子育てに沢山の悩みを持つのは当たり前だけれど、筆者も多くの
失敗や反省を繰り返してきたことが書かれており、同じ母親として
安心させられる。育児書や児童心理、幼児教育などの本を多く読んで
みて、この本が今までのなかで共感できる部分が多くとても励ましに
なった。特に「気質」について書かれている部分は、子どもを見る
上でとても役に立った。

シュタイナーという言葉に囚われず、多くの方に読んで頂きたい。
