道警シリーズの第４弾。
一応、「笑う警官（うたう警官）」に始まる道警組織対主人公達という流れは前作『警官の紋章」でひとまず完結ということだそうで、
今作からは登場人物を発展させていく新シリーズということだそうです。

中身はスピンオフ的なライトさでミステリも一応、事件が絡み合ったりと、
なくはないのですが前半を読めば結末はわかってしまう軽いものです。
そもそもそこに重点はおかれていない様子。

当方、佐々木氏の作品はだいたい読んでいるのですが、
基本的に氏はあまりキャラクター描写が際立つといった作家ではなく、
むしろ作品全体の醸し出す雰囲気が魅力だと思うので今作のような内容は
あまり向いていないのでは？と個人的には思います。
「制服捜査」シリーズなんかの方が作家のよさが巧くでているかと。

シリーズを読まれている方は天気の悪い週末なんかに読破するにはよいのかもしれません。
作者にはそろそろ「警官の血」の様なヘヴィな大作を期待してしまいます。
