作者の葛藤や作家性が丸出しになっていて、そこが素晴らしい！

漫画の構成も非常に考えられていて評価できる。

巻を追うごとに面白くなっていった印象があるのだが、
最終巻の６巻などは本当に素晴らしかった。

幽玄漫玉日記第１巻です。「防衛漫玉日記」に続く桜先生の日常日記漫
画なんですが、本作で桜先生に親近感を持ちました。
わたしはうつ病です。なので本作品の冒頭のお話が身につまされます。
薬の「絵」を見ただけであー「アモキサン」飲んでるな、やはりうつ状
態の初心者はあの薬から入るのか、と思いました。
抗うつ剤を飲むと一時的に気分がハイになる描写もウンウンと頷きなが
ら読みました。いやホント、「アモキサン」でキメると生命のガソリン
入れられたみたいに３日間ぶっ通しで働いても平気なんですよ。
ただし、効果は一時的でだんだん薄くなります。
さらに注意力・咄嗟の判断力が弱まり車の運転などもってのほか、とい
う描写にもウンウンと頷きました。でも最近は軽いうつ病なら医師の診
断書と公安の許可があれば免許を取っても良いことになってます。おか
げで私は免許を取れました。車の免許は役所や郵便局で身分証明書とし
て実に役立ちます。車の運転は事故りそうでしていません。
桜先生ほど自分の加齢を意識し、自分の掘り下げをエンターテイメント
としてうまく描写できる人は寡聞にして私は知りません。うつ病をキチ
ンと受けとめ、漫画にまとめることが出来るのは桜先生の天賦の才能で
しょう。
うつ病って具体的にはどうなるのか知りたい方、とか私のようにうつ病
の方にオススメです。それでは。

桜玉吉の生活を描いたマンガエッセイ。
桜玉吉のマンガは独特の描き方なので、読み慣れていない人にとっては
ひどく読みにくいものに感じるだろう。
吹き出しはほとんどなく、セリフは脇にカッコ書きで書かれていて
モノローグもカッコなしで同様に載っている。

登場人物も何の説明もないままにこれまでの流れを引き継いでいるため、
編集者のヒロポンや編集長の奥村の性格や
３人の人間関係を知らない人にとっては相当敷居が高い作品。

基本的には作者と周囲のくだらないエピソードを描いているだけだが、
桜玉吉が鬱になってしまったので、場面によっては
かなり病的な描写に変化することもある。
このあたりは相当に人を選ぶマンガになっており、
何が面白いのか意味がわからない人も多いだろう。

ただ、そのあたりに慣れると、このバカバカしい生活感というか、
３人の主役を中心に、周囲とのやり取りが楽しく感じてくる。
４巻あたりから登場するぱそみちゃんもかわいいし、キャラクターが立っている。
毎巻の巻末に載っているコミックビームの販促用４コマも面白い。

６巻最後で本格的な鬱になってしまったようで、
清々しい終わり方ではないのが残念。これもリアルでいいかもしれない。
