絵がわかりやすいというのもありますが、表現のたとえ方がいいのが一番気に入っています。例文もわかりやすくて、実際にありそうなものばかりです、また日本語訳があるので英語力が今一つでもＯＫです。受験英語と違う実生活の表現が魅力でした。

イラストを使ってイディオムを覚えるという発想は中々ユニークである。会話文もあり、どのような文脈で使えるかがわかる。著者が言っているように、私たちがネイティブの会話を聞いても理解しにく一つの原因に彼らの会話の中に頻繁にイディオムが出てくることがあげられると思うが、このような形で覚えたものは中々忘れにくいものである。ただし、イラストがちょっとお粗末であり、これがこの本の良さを半減させている。

イディオムも語の集合なので『語』の起源をさかのぼれば意味が分かる、というナイーブな発想に支えられた本。イラストは、ただ単にイディオムの表面的な意味を絵にしただけで、『語源』もいい加減で、和訳以上に何の付加価値もないものが多い。この程度のイディオムをしらなければ英語が使えないものだろうか、と選定に首肯しかねるものも多い。こんな本をわざわざ買って覚えるくらいなら、朝日出版社の『英和イディオム完全対訳辞典』を手元に置いている方がよっぽど良いだろう。
