5.0 out of 5 stars 抱腹絶倒の名ブックガイド＆エッセイ, 2006/7/23
本書は本や漫画に関するエッセイをまとめたブックガイド＆カルチャーエッセイ集である。
前半は「書評」集となっている。
ちょっとくだけた口調と爆笑ネタをふんだんにちりばめながら、要点はかっちりと押さえ、ところどころ（特に後半）にきらりと光る名句が象嵌（ぞうがん）細工のように配されている。

読むは、読むは、この人はありとあらゆる本を読み込んでいる。
漫画は勿論のこと
村上春樹、シュナイダー、サド、有栖川有栖、大西巨人を評ずる一方、Vシネマの帝王、哀川翔の自伝『俺、不良品』を（タイトルだけでご飯を三杯は食べられる）と評ずるにいたっては、本書が四角四面な書評とはわけがちがうことが分かろう。

本が好きで好きでというのがこの人の骨格をなしている。
本屋で買った本を家まで待ちきれず、道でよみはじめ、路上駐車の車に激突。
食事のメニューを考えるより先に、食事中に読むものを吟味するというから、
筋金入りの本好きである。

後半のエッセイが抱腹絶倒もの。
特に家族ネタでは爆笑につぐ爆笑。
弟さんを描いた「耐えがたく替えがたいもの」は苦しいほど笑ってしまった。
読者をさんざん笑わせておきながら、最後は「替えがたいもの」という深い言葉で読者の胸をしみじみとさせるのだった。
笑いにつられてつるりと逃してしまいそうであるけれど、ここは著者の思惟に富んだ温かい人間性に触れる箇所でもある。
それは後半の『どらえもん』の書評にも一脈通じる。

書評やエッセイをこんなにも気楽にハミングするように、ときには突っ込みをいれながら書くというのはたやすそうでむずかしい。
あとがきで「書評とは愛の表明でなければならない」と著者は言う。
また「読書は一人きりでする行為のように見えて、常にだれかとつながっている。時空も、虚実の狭間も超えて。だから私は、読書が好きだ」

まさに本好きならではの名言にして、本書の根底を流れるものといえよう。

直木賞を取ってしまった三浦しをんさんの最新作。
私は小説よりも寧ろ彼女のエッセイのほうが好きだ。
エッセイの面白さはもちろんだけれど、
本が何より好きで、腐女子である、という親近感を
私が勝手に抱いているからだ。
この著書もしをんさんの本への愛が溢れていて、
「分かる分かる」と頷いてしまう。

しかし、直木賞作家になってしまったしをんさんの本を多くの人が手にしたとき、
このヲタク的、腐女子的な思考が果たして理解されるのだろうか、という思いと、
世間に対して秘密にしておきたいその嗜好が白日のもとに晒されるのだろうかという居心地の悪さがある。

朝日新聞に掲載されたブックエッセイやそのほかいろいろとまとめられていて、
非常にお得感があるエッセイだと思う。
できれば世間の方々には腐女子的思考はそっと見ぬ振りをして読み進めてもらいたい。

直木賞受賞後の第一冊目。
主に本に関するエッセイがまとめられています。
(エッセイ+評論+趣味…と分類できそう)

他のエッセイと比べると妄想度は低めですが、著者の読書の幅広さに感嘆させられます。
読みたくなった本がかなりある。

ただし、現在時間に追われている方は、余裕ができてから読むほうがいいでしょう。


これまで自分が読んだことのないジャンルを開拓する際に、
その指標としてもいいかもしれません。
