5.0 out of 5 stars 美しかったアフガンの村の物語です, 2001/12/7
戦火で荒廃する前、桃源郷のように美しかったというアフガンの村に滞在していた作者の描いた美しい絵本です。

兵隊にいった兄の代わりに少年が、市場へ農作物を売りに行く父親の手伝いをする話です。随所に、しのびよる戦禍の影が見え隠れする中、村中が花と緑で『世界一』美しくなる様子が描かれています。その村が、どうなったか。今、映像で見る土ぼこりで赤茶けた不毛のアフガンの様子からは想像もつかない、実り多く民族色豊かな村の風景をみていると、大人の目には、痛々しいくらいです。

テレビの中でだけ、漠然と戦争の様子をみつつ、テレビゲームで戦争・バトルゴッコを『楽しむ』今の子供達に、そして、大人にも是非読んでほしい一冊です。

爆撃前にかの地を旅した藤原新也のエッセイには、
いかにアフガニスタンが美しかったか、そこに住む人々がいかに美しかったのかが、
語られていて、胸をかきたてられるものがあったのですが…。
まさに、この絵本は、そこに描かれていたようなアフガニスタンの小さな村が描かれています。
ゆったりと、子どもの目から描かれているので、

ドキュメンタリー映像や写真とは、全く違った味わいがあります。
作者が、かの地に住む人々に寄せる思いの深さからでしょうか。
なにげない日々を描きながら、読み終わると、ずしんと重いものをわたされた感じがします。
また、この本が、爆撃前、95年の時点で出版されていたことを思うと、なんともやりきれなかったです。

「これ、アリなのか！」と思った。絵本ってすごい。最後のページを見たときの、驚き、そして哀しみがわすれられない。読んでいる時ではなく、思い出したときに涙が出た、初めての本です。

イスラムの国の、おそらく、そう遠い昔でもない、お話。うつくしい日常がほんとうに何気なく、暖かく、つづられる。少年の目線で一緒にワクワクドキドキするような感じ。そこまででも、充分、親子で、楽しめる。

作者には、すこし大人になってから、思い出して、考えて欲しいという意図があるのかもしれない、と思った。最後のページがなぜ「あの形」なのか。
