　本書は経済指標の読み方、考え方を４５の指標に絞って解説したものです。
　本書はまず、項目立てがわかりやすい。「経済全体の動向がわかる統計」（GDP速報値、景気動向指数）など、目的別に統計が整理されており、また各統計にも「GDP速報値ーわが国の経済成長を知る」、「景気動向指数ー今の景気局面を知る」など、統計の主な見方がサブタイトルで表示されているので、目次を見るだけでも主な経済統計の使い方がわかるようになっています。大変丁寧だと感じました。
　加えて、各統計の提供元（主にウェブサイト）が紹介してあってすぐにアクセスできるものを選んであること、そしてその統計の発表時期が早いか遅いか、景気を判断する上でどのように扱えばいいのか、なども丁寧に解説してあります。一般的な解説に留まらず、著者の「コツ」を交えて解説してあるところがポイントでしょう。グラフや図表も豊富で、これ一冊で基本的な経済指標は十分ではないかと思います。経済指標を読みこなして、経済の動向を掴みたいと思う方、経済統計の初学者には必読の書だといえます。

個人投資家として、経済のファンダメンタルな部分の知識も身につけねばと思い、本書を買い求めました。

DGPや日銀短観などの言葉は新聞やニュースではおなじみですが、その中身については以外と詳しく知らないことが多いものです。
そのような時、本書を取ってサッと調べれば、これら経済指標の仕組みや活用の仕方について概略を知ることができます。また、指標ごとに簡単なグラフが載っているので、過去からの推移を見ることもできます。

新書という形式ですが、じっくり読んで理解を深めるというよりも、机の傍らに置いて、わからない言葉が出てきたときに調べるというような、辞書的な使いかがベストだと思います。

必要に迫られて、「経済指標の読み方」的参考書を相当数、レビューしたが、
現在出版されているもののなかでは、ベストです。新書版という手軽さも
最高です。

経済統計の世界も日進月歩です。出版時期のちょっと古いものは正確性に
不安がありますし、書いた時期の状況に解説が引っ張られているのも、
百年に一度の金融・経済危機をウォッチしている者には？？です。

著者の長い経済予測の経験から得られた「知見」がちりばめられている良書です。
