人名漢字が解説してあります。
『常用字解』だけだと，漢字検定２級の漢字を網羅できません。『常用字解』とともに使う辞書としては最適です。
こちらも，『常用字解』と同じように分かり易いです。
『常用字解』か『人名字解』どちらに載っているか分からないときは，『人名字解』の方の音訓索引を調べるといいです。そうすると，『人名字解』でなく『常用字解』に載っている漢字は，そのページが書いてあります。

　漢字の権威者白川静の『常用字解』に次ぐ本書。その文字の字義をたどり、慣用の歴史を考え、命名時の参考となる。人名漢字９８３字そのもとの形から成り立ちをたどり、字形と意味との関係もやさしく解説。用例も挙げて書き下ろし人名用漢字の入門字典。例えば「汀」は形声文字。音はテイ、訓はみぎわ・なぎさ。音符は丁。意味は川や海のそばの平らかな地。汀花＝みぎわの花。汀渚（ていしょ）＝なぎさ。汀柳＝なぎさの柳（雅）
