　悪くはないけれど，積極的にお薦めできる本ではない。
　100席の落語のあらすじ集である。
　念のために書いておけば，本書は立川志の輔の著書ではない。後付には「選・監修者：立川志の輔」とある。

　落語を読んで楽しむというのを目的にするのであれば，あらすじを読んでもしかたがない。『立川談志遺言大全集』の１〜９巻の「書いた落語傑作選」とか，ちくま文庫から出ている麻生芳伸『落語百選』（春夏秋冬）とか『古典落語　志ん生集』とか『古典落語　金馬・小円朝』とか，講談社学術文庫から出ている興津要『古典落語』『古典落語　続』とかを読んだほうがいい。

　辞書代わりに題名とあらすじを確認するには，索引がないうえに，噺が50音順に並んでいないので，検索に不便だ。東大落語研究会『落語事典』を中古でなるべく安価に買うか，立川志らく『志らくの落語二四八席辞事典』を買ったほうが，あとあとまで使える。

　蛇足だけれど，なぜ「粗忽長屋」を「主観長屋」と書いてあるのだろう。「粗忽長屋」は粗忽者の話ではなく，主観の強すぎる人間がテーマだと考えたのは立川談志であるが，家元自身は「書いた落語傑作選」でも「粗忽長屋」とそのままのタイトルにしてある。入門書にしては変化球すぎる気がする。

　落語の入門用に良い，と評判のようだけれど，入門し終わったらもう読まなくなってしまう本だと思う。それなら，何度でも読み返して楽しめる本で入門したらいいのではないか。たとえば，立川志らく『全身落語家読本』など良著だと思う。

ドラマ「タイガー＆ドラゴン」で使われていた古典落語のあらすじをちゃんと知りたくて購入。一編ずつ、一生懸命読んでいます。
落語はただ笑わせるだけではなく、奥が深いものだなと実感。
起承転結もしっかりしているし、何よりも話の山場が必ずあります。

とても分かりやすく書かれているので、挫折することなく読めます。
ただ、落語自体が難しい！
描かれている人情・教訓・人の習性も読み取らなければならないし、想像力を働かせないと話も理解できない。
そのため、頭が程よく疲れます。読んだ後でふーっとため息。クセになる！

２頁見開きで１話が収録されています。読みきりの形態なので非常に手をつけやすいです。本も頭から読むのでなく、興味のあるものから読めんでもいいし、パラパラとめくり読みしてもいいし、途中で容易に読むのをやめることもできます。　だから自分のペースで付き合える本です。
『美味しんぼ』を読む方にもひそかにオススメ。快楽亭ブラックが出てくる話には落語の話が非常に多いですが、この本で原典を調べてみるとまた話が楽しくなります。
「目黒のサンマ」「千早振る」「子別れ」ものってますよ！
（残念なことに「ネギマ」は無いです、あの鍋は非常にうまそう）
