　時事的な部分を付け加えた以外は、内容的には、第四版と大差はありません。ちょっとがっかり。でも、マクロ経済学の名著であることは間違いありません。しかし、入門となっていることには、異議あり！です。初めて経済学をはじめて、この本を理解するには、高い知的レベルか、膨大な時間がかかります。入門書を読んでから、読まれることをオススメします。

しかし、それでこの本の価値が下がるわけではありません。中級テキストとしては、最高峰でしょう。国家公務員1種受験者必携、地上、国税の難問対策としては、非常に価値があります。

5.0 out of 5 stars 小泉政権に対してはかなり好意的, 2007/6/26
小泉政権前の、２０００年第４版から７年を経て、
小泉政権後の、２００７年第５版。
この間、マクロ経済の実態も多いに変わったわけだが、
小泉政権に対してはかなり好意的な評価を本書で論じている。
第４版と第５版とを比較すると、
総ページ数が４９６から４２２へと、７４ページ減。
これは第４版から比べて１５％もの減である。
重要度が低い、と中谷教授が考えた部分が割愛されているのであろう。
例えば、ウィンブルドン現象、例えばラッファー曲線、
例えば、クレディビリティ仮説の説明における具体例、
学生に勉強をさせるには、裁量かルールか、などなど、
これら、私好みのトピックスが割愛されて残念だが、
それでも４２２ページの骨太の本書、マクロの入門から中級にかけて、
非常に具体的に記述しており、学習しやすいと思う。
また、前述の通り、小泉政権の記憶新しい現在、
小泉政権に対する評価は一読の価値あり

理論が所々弱いと感じました。中級、と書かれている方もいらっしゃいますが数学的な知識もあまりいらないし、初級の粋はでないかと思います。
僕も今そうしてますが理論を根本から学びたければ他のテキストも読むといいと思います。
論争やコラムの部分はかなりオススメです!
