Ｙ世代についてよくかけていると思う。比較してはいけないけど、１０代のぜんぶみたいに１０代のステロタイプを単に書き連ねているのではなく、私たちの世代についてのステロタイプが全部が全部そうではないという記述が嬉しかった。

内容はＹ世代の人を例にあげて、この世代の特徴を紹介しているものだ。
自分がこのＹ世代ということもあって共感することも多かった。
自分の子供の気持ちが分からないというような親世代の人にとって学ぶことも多いだろう。
ただ、具体例が多く内容は薄かったような。

　ジェネレーションY（Y世代）とは、米国で言われ始め、戦後のベビーブーマー(1945−59年生まれ)に続く世代(1960−74年生まれ)をネクストの意味をもつXをつけ「X世代」と呼んでいたが、その次の世代が成長してきたので、Xの次、Y世代(1975−89年生まれ)と呼んだのが始まりである。日本でいう、「団塊の世代」「新人類」「団塊ジュニア」の次の、”日本で経済成長を体験していない最初の世代”である。

　Y世代は、小学校のときから学校で「個性」や「自分らしさ」が強調されてきた。勉強やスポーツができなくても、誰にでも自分に得意な分野があるはず・みつかるはずと教えられてきた世代である。たとえ、大人になって大部分の人間が、たいしたことをしないで日々を過ごしている現実があったとしても。

　好奇心は旺盛で、バイタリティがあって、すぐれた感性を持って、他人の意見に振り回されない・・・なんて自分のことを評価している人間が多そうな世代である。実際は、そうじゃあないとしても。スポーツや活動家の極めてごく一部の活躍する同世代の人を見て、自分ももう少し頑張っていてたらなあ・・・なんて考える世代でしょう。少しの頑張りじゃあないんでしょうけどね。

　結論から言うと、いつの時代でも若者世代は「特徴がある」と言われてきた。そりゃ何百万人もいるんだから本気で探せば、事例はいくらでも見つかりましょう。本書で取り上げられた人物が、他の世代の若い時と大差ないと思う。正直、盛り上がりにも欠け、あんまり見るところのない本です。
