いまどきの"生の英語"フレーズが楽しめるブログ【GetUpEnglish】の単行本化です(2006/4/1〜2006/9/30分)。「あぁ、これが英語で言いたかったんです！」と思えるフレーズが少なからず見つかりますょ。例えば次のようなフレーズの解説があります。(本の帯より)
「ありえない！(As if !)」「そのとおり！(You said it !)」「ヤバイ(dicey)」「悪く思うなよ(No offence.)」「はっきりしてくださいよ！(What's your point ?)」「チョー気持ちいい(It gives me a buzz.)」「だしぬけに(out of the blue)」「ムカつく(It really bugs me.)」「わけわかんない！(Go figure !)」
見開き２ページでブログ１日分(＋オマケ)を収録して、詰め込み過ぎず、スカスカすぎず、ちょうど良い分量でかなり見やすい装丁になっています。英和・和英索引もついていて便利ですね。改めてこの本で出てくるフレーズを眺めていると、podcast("英会話 eChat Vancouver","大杉正明のCross Cultural Seminar","English as a Second Language Podcast")で聞いたことがあるフレーズに出くわしました。このようにして、本/blog/podcastという複数の情報源から同じフレーズに出会うと記憶の定着も進みますょ。(^-^)v
(追記)「アメリカ人ならだれでも知っている英語フレーズ4000」(山田 詩津夫),「ニューヨーク発ネイティブの英語表現」(小林 一省/Ann E.Clinton)などもオススメです。
