全体として、テキストマイニングを利用したい側の人にとって、
また概要を理解したい人にとっては、非常に有用な本だと思う。

だが、テキストマイニングの具体的なロジックを知りたい人には向いていない。
言い換えれば、開発者ではなく利用者向けということである。
私は開発者向けの内容と踏んで、購入してしまったため、拍子抜けしてしまった。
今から買う人は、その点を注意して購入してほしい。

テキストマイニング研究者によるテキストマイニング入門書．著者は，IBMのテキストマ
イニングツールTAKMIの研究開発に携わった自然言語処理の研究者．

最初の章でテキストマイニングとは何か，という位置づけをはっきりさせた上で，実際の
適用例，活用例とテキストマイニングの理想的な適用例について詳しく書かれており，最
終章では最新の技術を紹介し，テキストマイニングの今後について展望が書かれている．

現在の自然言語処理技術を考えれば，テキストマイニングツールに適用されている技術は
非常に原始的なものである．さらにテキストマイニングでは，データマイニングと異なり，
データが整形されていないため，利用者の修練が重要となる．

テキストマイニングを使う人／作る人，どちらにも自信を持ってお薦めできる一冊！

「自分の専門分野の技術を使うと世の中の問題はなんでも解ける」と主張するのが重要と思い込んでいる研究者、あるいは、技術の限界を考えもせずに浅い知識で「理論的に解決不可能な問題を解けるはず」と思い込んでいる研究者など、うさんくさい研究者が多い中、著者は、自分の専門分野の技術の限界を真摯に考察し、一見解決不能に思われる現実の問題を数多く解決してきた実績をお持ちである。本書からは技術だけでなく、もっと重要な何かが学べるように思う。
