「ダークホルムの闇の君」の続編ですが、前が凝りに凝ったファンタジーだったのに比べて今回は「昔ながらのファンタジー」と言う雰囲気。
少し落ち着いたストーリーだったので、読む側としても胸をなでおろしました（笑）

ただ、「昔ながらのファンタジー」だからといって「つまらない」と思うことはありません。むしろジョーンズの個性が生き生きと伝わってきて、ダークホルムよりもリズミカルに読めた感じがします。

舞台は「魔術大学」。そこはとんでもなく個性のきつーい先生方と生徒の個性を生かさない教育がある場所、、、、そこで前作からぐんと成長したエルダが魔法を学びます。腹を抱えて笑える出来事、ドタバタファンタジー、そして前作で登場したブレイドやキットの成長ぶりもうかがえ、おいしいの一言でしたｖ

ジョーンズファンなら読むべきでしょう！

『ダークホルムの闇の君』を日本語訳で読んで、あまりにも気に入り、
続編のこの本の日本語訳がでるのが待ちきれずに買いました。
私は英検２級、ハリポタのアメリカ版はなんとか読めたけど、たぶん
これは難しくて読めないだろうと思っていたのですが、あまりのおも
しろさのために、全然気になりませんでした。夢中で、辞書もひかず、

ときどき笑ったりしながら読めました。今、読み返しているのですが、
それでもやっぱりおもしろいし。

魔法の大学が舞台ですが、学園ものというより、ファンタジーという
より、登場人物が暴れまわるドタバタものでしょうか。
この作者の本は、とにかく登場人物がいいです。全員が主人公という

かんじです。全員がはっきりした個性と好みと事情のもとで!好き勝手
しているのが、リアルで身近でかわいい。特に、このシリーズにでて
くるグリフィンたちは、最高です。前作の８年後という設定なので、
前作を読んで気に入っている人は、必見です。
