正直読み終えるのがもったいなかった。いつまでも読んでいたかった。そう思わせる本だった。
ぼくという語り手は「作家」である。
たのまれ仕事の縫い物をする、料理上手な奥さんがいる。
しかし、なんとその奥さんが安楽椅子探偵なのだ。
事件のストーリーとしては、そう特記すべきほどの事はない。
しかし、この奥さんの作る料理は実に美味そうなのだ。

それから「作家」のぼくと周囲の人との会話はまるで、漫才のようなのである。
住んでいるのが八王子の奥。
庭にはオリーブが植わっており、ブルーベリーの苗も植えたそうな。
白い彼岸花が咲くその庭にミミズクが餌をもらいに来る。
そんな情景が心から離れない。
五感すべてに訴えられ、とても心地よく私の心に響いた。

八王子の郊外のミミズクが遊びにくる一軒家で主人公と奥さんは
暮らしています。
主人公は作家で、奥さんは和服のお仕立てをしたりしているので、
出歩いたりすることなんかはほとんどなく、二人は一日の大半を
家の中で過ごしています。
そんな二人の生活のリズムを刻んでいるのは、奥さんの作る美味
しそうなお料理です。

登場してくるお料理は四国では定番のもののようですが、私にと
っては、初耳のものばかりで、そのぶんますます美味しそうに感
じられてきます。
お料理上手で聡明で控えめな奥さん。男の方からみたら理想の奥
さんかも知れないですね。そんな奥さんのもとには、主人公の友
人達がお料理と謎解きを求めて集ってきます。

ミステリーとしては、？という部分といち部もありますが、二
人のまるで漱石の世界を思わせるような暮らしぶりと美味しそう
なお料理には一読の価値があります。
因みに、私は、この本を読んで鰹節派からイリコだし派に改宗し
てしまいました。

奥様探偵推理小説（たいていは料理上手）は数々ありますが、この作品はかなり違ったオモムキです。
この奥さん、ゴシップは嫌いそうですし、噂話や社交場からヒントを得たりもしません。
最初に聞いた事件から、2.3の確認事項を小説家の夫にお願いするとそれを聞いた上で事件を解決してしまう。
家から出ない探偵さんなんです。

事件解決の妙もさることながら、とても美味しそうなお料理、お庭で感じる季節感、ご夫婦の会話のなんとも言えない愛らしさ。
そこだけ時間がゆっくり流れているような、素敵な雰囲気のお宅にゼヒ訪問してみたいと思ってしまいます。
