行き詰まった時の格言ほどありがたいものはない。
前向きな人生を送ろうと決意するならなくてはならない存在だ。
心ない一言の励ましより、時代を生き抜いた偉大な一言に心を打たれたい。
デール・カーネギーは多くの人に勇気と言葉を与えてきた偉大な人である。
彼が選んだとっておきの名言なら必ず１つはあなたの心に響くに違いない。

「道は開ける」、「人を動かす」、「カーネギー名言集」の代表３部作は、カーネギーファンとしては定番の様に大分前から読みこんでいますが、結局、前２作のエキスのピックアップである部分が多いため、それら各名言の前後関係をふまえることが名言集のみでは出来ないため、心へのしみこみ方が少し弱く、散逸感を感じました。また特に多出するヘレンケラーの文章については翻訳の練り込み不足のせいか、あれだけ光の様な優しい言葉を世界に与えてくれたひとの言葉としては少し冗長で意図が希薄になってしまっているのが残念です。

デール・カーネギーは「人を動かす」と「道は開ける」との著書で有名で、名言・金言など、ピリッと薬味の効いた言葉が好きだったようです。
本書は、デール・カーネギーが生涯かかって集めた、人生を力強く生き抜く為の言葉、引用句や抜粋を、以下の項目で分類したものです。

１．いかにして自信を得るか
２．信ずる心
３．人間関係について
４．仕事について
５．自分自身について

本書にはデール・カーネギーの言葉に加えて、古今東西の様々な偉人・賢人の言葉が掲載されています。
名言集の利点は、様々な偉人・賢人の言葉からより良く生きる為のヒントが得られ、興味を持った人物の経歴や著書を調べることで、更に知識や興味の幅が広がることです。

これまで知らなかった偉人・賢人の言葉がきっかけで、人生の新たな扉が開けることがあります。「人を動かす」と「道は開ける」とを読んだ後は、是非「カーネギー名言集」を読まれることをお勧めします。
