著者の既刊本のエッセンスを集めたものと言えます。マンガなので幅広い読者層がターゲットになり、作画もよく練られていて楽しく気軽に読めます。
ホワイ〜ハウツーマンガとしてよくできていて、大笑い（私の場合「苦笑」が多いんですが）しながら一気に読める割りに、初めての人は内容の濃さに驚くでしょう。
英会話教室に通っていながらなかなか話せるようにならなかったり、通うこと自体苦痛に感じるような人は、大いに納得できると思います。またこれから英会話を上達・・・もとい、外国人と気軽に話したいと思っている人にはお勧めです。

内容は、よくある日本人の英会話（あくまで英会話であり英語の読み書き能力ではない）が苦手な理由とその克服方法ですが、発想が他の英会話上達法とは一線を画しています。

よく「ここがヘンだよ日本人」というようなタイトルで、外国人から見た日本人の特性が語られます。本書ではそれに似たような「文化」のいくつかを取り上げ、英会話に対する障害を説明しています。
克服のためにちょっとした行動から改めるよう勧めていますが、海外崇拝ではなくむしろ日本文化の再確認であるところが受け入れやすいですし、著者の日本への愛を感じます。さらに実践的な英会話の秘訣や発音矯正法までがユニークで、簡単かつ効果が大きいと感じます。ひとつだけ試しましたが効果は絶大でした。タイトルの「読むだけでチョットよくなる」は偽りなしと感じました。
