もともとそのまんま東のファンではなかったのですが、自分が勉強で煮詰まっていたとき、他に勉強で頑張ってる人の話を読みたいな、と思って手に取りました。

社会人になってから受験勉強をするのは、並大抵のことではありません。「もう一度大学に戻りたいな」と思いながらも、大抵の人は日々の仕事や雑事にかまけて、時間だけが過ぎてしまうのではないでしょうか。東さんはタレントとしての仕事をしながら大学での勉強をし（しかも主席で卒業）、朝は子供を学校まで送り、マラソンも欠かさないそうです。もともとお笑い芸人ですし、過去に不祥事も起こしていますから、「本でならどうとでも書ける」といった見方をする人がいるかもしれません。でも、彼と同じことはなかなかできることではありません。

読み終わってから「自分も頑張ろう！」と思いました。

社会人入学体験記はたくさん出版されていますが、この本は
間違いなくベスト１、２を争う秀逸本です。
社会人入学を考えてる人はもちろん、これからの人生、なにか
チャレンジしたいんだけど踏み出せない…と躊躇してる人にも
おすすめ。元気がでますよ。

著者の実体験を通して、社会人入試の受験勉強の方法、筆記試験、面接試験、合格発表、そして社会人学生の学生生活と続く。著者は「哲学や宗教は40代で取り組むべきテーマではないかと考えて、学問という抽象概念を専門に取り扱う場所である大学の門を叩く」

全篇を通じて、学ぶ楽しさが書かれており、特に入学後の学生生活を描写した部分では、いわゆる現役学生と違い、授業料の重み、時間の有難さ、学ぶことの喜びを知っている社会人学生生活が書かれていて大変面白い。
