　江戸時代の下町を舞台にした一味違う宮部作品。時代小説としても違和感がないばかりか、人情の機微をしっかり表現していて好感が持てる。サスペンス色はないが、その分を人情味で補っている感じで、読後感も爽やかだ。

宮部小説は大好きなのですが、時代小説は避けていました。
すごく後悔!
なんで早く読まなかったんだろう。
一章の「片葉の葦」を読み終って、「かー」と唸った。巧すぎる。
もし私のように、時代小説はちょっと、と思ってる方がいたら、やっぱり読まないできたことを後悔するかも。

私は時代小説は宮部さんの作品しか読んだことないので、他の作家さんと比べようがないのですが、その必要がないと思わせるほど、本当に素敵で上質な作品が多いです。
決して読み疲れることなく、むしろ心地よい感覚に酔いながら、スススと読み進めることができますし、軽快なリズムの割には、心にいつまでもジン…と余韻を残して読者の心を離さない物語が、こうでもかというくらいに、この作品には詰まっています。
人の思いというのは複雑で、決して綺麗なものばかりではなく、時として醜くもあるというのに、この作品で描かれるそういった思いは、風が吹くかのように、ごく自然に心の中を通り過ぎて行き、なんとも後味が良いのです。
もちろん宮部さんの小技も随所に散りばめられおり、十分楽しんで読むこともできます。が、私にとっては、一種の癒しの手段として、いつまでも大切にしていきたい一冊なのです。
