高校生向けだったForestの改訂第4版。
名前が高校英語→総合英語に変わりましたが、文法書としては非常に読みやすいところは変わっていません。
受験英語用というわけではなく、英語の根幹ともなる英文法がわかりやすいイラストや解説と共に、基礎からきっちり学べます。

英語から長い間離れている大人が英語を勉強しなおす場合でも、最初にこの本を読むことをオススメします。

また、別売ですが、「えいご漬け」のForestバージョン(Forest三昧)も発売されているので併用してみるのもいいかもしれません。

良書です。名著といっても良いと思います。評価が高い理由は、（１）あくまで英文法の学習書であることに徹しているためか、例文に使用される単語が簡単であること。（＝英文法の理解に集中できる。）（２）説明が丁寧でありながら明快・簡潔であること。の２点のためと思われます。
ただ、大学生以上の方で資格試験等のための「復習」に使用される場合は、少なくとも、高校の中レベルの英文法知識が必要です。もう少し正確に言うと高校の中レベルの英文法知識がある方でないと本書の良さを直ぐに理解するのは難しいでしょう。（高校１年から２年生の方は、高校時代に本書に出会った幸運に感謝しつつ時間をかけてじっくり読んでくださいね！）

この本に乗ってる項目は他の文法参考書と変わりません。勉強する範囲に大して差はないと思います。
でも、他の参考書って違って内容をもう1段階噛み砕いてる所に大きな差が出ています。　例文も、文法を理解するのに適したシンプルなものが多くて、非常に読みやすかったです。
それに、文法を覚えさせようとするやり方と違って、文法を理解させようとする内容が私は好きです。

後、この本は600Ｐとぶ厚い本で読破するのが大変かと思われがちですが、それは間違いです！
内容を理解させようとするため、他の本よりＰ数が多くなるのは当たり前です。が、英文を理解する楽しみを覚えてしまえばすらすら読めてしまいます。
