今回の「ＺＯＫＵＤＡＭ」は、登場人物こそ同じものの、まったく別のお話、パラレルワールド。
前作（？）で、もっとも個性的だった、自称『うら若き乙女』 ロミ・品川が主人公となって、立場としては、ＺＯＫＵ側が正義の味方、ＴＡＩ側が悪の組織っぽくもないんですけど、そんな感じなっています。

お話は、タイトルと表紙からもご推察の通り、ロミ・品川とケン・十河が、ＺＯＫＵＤＡＭの巨大ロボットのパイロットに選ばれ、ＴＡＩＧＯＮの永良野乃が操る巨大ロボット怪獣と戦うというお話・・・になるはずですが、話は脱線しまくり、まったく話は前に進まず、肩透かしで終わること必死至極。
まぁ、「ＺＯＫＵ」ですから。

これといった山場も見せ所もなく、だらだらと進んで、ぽちょんと終わりますが、いたるところにちりばめられた言葉遊びや、オタッキーなネタに、ニヤニヤ笑いは続きます。
万人にお勧めはできませんが、工学博士たる森博嗣氏の、ロボット工学（？）へのぼやき、つぶやき、うんちく、うんつく。　ミステリーでも、「スカイ・クロラ」のように、はかなげでもない、脱力系不思議お笑い空間が、この本には展開されています。

なにはともあれ、前作（？）で、ＺＯＫＵが巨大ロボットを作ろうとした話に萌えた人、わくわくした人は、ぜひ読んで、また萌えて、またわくわくして、また肩透かしをくらってください。
それでも、ラストは、なんだか、すがすがしい感じで終わっててよいです。
あとはもう、我ら読者の想像力で補完完結。続々編希望ってことで、ひとつ。

表紙・オビに魅かれます。でも思いとどまりましょう。ロボット・アニメのパロディー小説ではあります。でも、一番近いのは「ヤッターマン」あたりですね。決して、「…ダム」を想起してはいけません。要するに、ロボット対決を背景の設定に借用しただけで、擬似「世界征服を狙う組織」対「地球防衛軍」の、楽屋オチ･ギャグ小説です。結局直接対決は描かれません。というか、そこに物語の焦点がないからなんですけどね。
　キャラクターが「ＺＯＫＵ」に引き続いているということで、前作を読んでいる人には誤解なく受け止められるでしょう。でも、この設定ならもっと面白くも出来たと思うんですが…。
　くれぐれも、表紙のハードな雰囲気に勘違いしてはいけませんよ。

軽めに読める、実践ロボットを作って乗ってみよう!というお話です。
積み上げられた分厚いマニュアル。直訳か？というへんな日本語。
ここおかしいんじゃないの？という疑問から派生するはてしない
技術的解決への模索。何かを誰かとなしとげるって、ほんとうに
たいへんなんですよね。
極めて地味に展開されるストーリーも、ケン十河の天然さ、ロミ品川の
不屈の精神、永良野乃のかわいさと揖斐くんのちょっとした優しさに
意外に退屈しません。
特に揖斐くんの最後の台詞は素敵です。
と、軽めに読んできたあとの最終話、すがすがしくて気持ちいいエンディング。
読み終わってこんなに爽やかな気持ちになるとはちょっと嬉しい誤算でした。
