少し前「質問力」ブーム、そして今は「頭がいい人」ブームらしい。日頃、田舎暮らしの私は、都会の大型書店へ出向くと「何か買わなければ」と脅迫観念に襲われていた。この本は、「頭がいい人」シリーズでミリオンセラーとなった本の隣に平積みされていた。ミリオンセラーの方は、一読して対処法が書いていなかったのでやめた。やはり今は報告も電子メールの時代、文章力だろうと、こちらを選んだ。まず「文章は、論理的な思考の産物である。」気に入った。プログラマーでもある私は、文章もプログラムも似ている所があると常日頃考えていたからである。「書き出し」の書き方や、「文章そのもの」の書き方の項目で、名作古典や映画を例に出す。著者と背後の倶楽部の懐の深さがうかがえる。「文章力を鍛錬する」では「名文を書き写せ」等、英語学習にも通ずる所あり、なるほどと思った。各所で、悪い例文と良い例文を対比させ解説しているし、各項目のタイトルがその内容を的確にあらわしていて、さすがと感じさせる。私は、未だ４周目で実践もしていないので、この程度の稚拙なレビューである。この本は、実践書であり、ビジネスマンからブログ作者まで、この「文章力の強化書」をお薦めしたい。プレゼン資料にも効果大である。

文章作法の本というと、著者のくどい文章観のおしつけやお説教がつきものだが、それがない。
悪く言えばHowTo本、よく言えば即実戦の実用本。ある程度文章に慣れ親しんだ人がリファレンスの感覚で手元に置ける本だ。

私も仕事で文を書くが、「もっと伝わる文が書きたい」と希望して本書を選んだ。
基本的な内容と言えばそのとおりなのだろうが、その基本さえできていない自分に気づく。
2度ほど読み返したが、その度に自分の文章を見直したり、部下の文章の構成（校正）チェックにも役立つ。
同じノウハウ本を何冊も読むより、本書をマスターする方が有益だと感じた。
