ヘタな人生論より徒然草
　『徒然草』の一部を現代語訳し、著者独自の読み方を解説する。「疎み疎まれずに人とつき合う極意」「わが身を内から支える品性と教養の高め方」など7つの切り口で、『徒然草』から人生の見方や考え方を読み取る。

　兼好は「桜は咲く前や散った後、月は雨に隠れた時や西に沈む時が趣深い」と記し、完成された美よりも「未完成の美」「凋落の美」を心に留めることを強調した。著者はこれを人生哲学に拡大し、「完全な状況だけを幸福と考えるのか。完成に至るまでの努力に価値はないのか」と問う。また、「衣食住と医療が確保できているなら、貧乏とは言わない」との一節を、現代人に心強い激励だと評する。

　複雑な現代社会を力強く生き抜くヒントが詰まっている。

　高校生の頃、古典という「科目」は全然出来なかった。
それは、古典文法からはじまり、何でこんなことを覚え
なければならないの？というとまどい（現実逃避？）の
域を出られずに終わった。何も理解できなかったし関心
ももてなかった。

　この本を手に取ったのは、昔「マドンナ先生」と呼ばれてた著者の名前
があったから。
　気軽な気持ちで読み始めたが、とても共感できる内容で
あった。日本人の原点みたいな考え方がたくさんある。
「勝ち組」「負け組」といった価値観ではなく、「よく生
きる」とはどういうことかと言ったことが、堅苦しくない
文章で伝えられている。

　予備校で古文を教える著者が解説した「徒然草」であるが、原文を読んでも考えさせられるものだが、これは現代風な著者独自の解説がおもしろかった。
　著者も語っているのだが、人生も折り返し地点を過ぎるとしみじみ「徒然草」の言葉が染み込んでくる。
　

　難解な原文を受験生の立場から理解できるようにした解説は逸品である。あらためて、そうか、この文章はこう読むのかと思った次第である。
　少し、生き方に迷った方、多忙な日々の中で心に隙間風が吹いている四十台の方に読んでいただきたい本です。

解説書というより、著者本人の人生観を徒然草に託して書いています。例文も著者の現代語訳というのに、若干引っかかりはあったのですが、解説書じゃないと思えば、さほど気になりません。むしろ、このほうが、著者の考えを伝えるのには都合が良かったのかも。私も徒然草に対しては、胡散臭いものを感じていたのですが、こうして年齢を経てからこんな本を読んであらためてその良さに気づかされました。原文にあたりたい人は、それもよし。古典を新しい視点で見直した点に、敬服しました。
