今回は、コーヒーだけではなく、美味しそうな料理も沢山出てきます。
それだけで読む時にはわくわくしました。

娘ジョイがインターンシップを始めたレストランの同僚と
ジョイが付き合っていたエグゼクティブ・シェフが殺されてしまい、
ジョイが容疑者になって捕まってしまいます。
そこで、もちろんクレアが捜査を始めます。
娘の危機ということもあって、周りの協力も得られて、
クレアは今まで以上に捜査に没頭します。
その代わり、自身のコーヒーショップ、ビレッジブレンドに立つ時間がなく、
お店は大丈夫？と心配にもなりますが、今回はタッカーではなく、
エスターが変なラッパーの恋人と共にクレアに協力していきます。

刑事マイクも協力し、この二人が前作より良い感じに。
元夫のマテオは、あまり活躍なし。
そして、この３人、クレア、マイク、マテオに新たな展開があります。
次はどうなるのでしょう？楽しみです。

4.0 out of 5 stars 目が離せない展開, 2009/7/27
ビレッジブレンドの仕事はどうしたの？と思うくらい、今作は店の話が少ない。インターン中の1人娘のジョイに殺人容疑がかかり、クレアは娘の無実を証明するために犯人探しををするのだ。その為、クレアが店で仕事をしているシーンは非常に少ない。しかし、コーヒーについての話題は少なくない。
内容としては、前作から気になるクレアとクィン警部補の関係に進展がある。そしてマテオにも。私個人的にはマテオが好きなので、マテオに頑張って欲しいと思うのだが。
今回はビレッジブレンドでの仕事シーンが少なかった分、探偵としてのクレアの活躍が見られる。シリーズの中では1番盛り上がって読めた。次回作が気になるラストだったので、早く次が読みたい。

アラフォーと思われる主人公はコーヒーショップの女マネージャー クレアで、元夫マテオはコーヒーハンター、世界中のおいしいコーヒー豆を探していつもは留守だが今は非常事態でニューヨークにいる。
なぜなら二人の大切な娘が四つ星レストランでインターン中に殺人容疑で捕まった。クレアは今の彼、マイク警部補や元夫や従業員らの協力でと真犯人を探す。ストーリー展開も面白いが、ニューヨークのグルメ事情とコーヒショップの描写が興味深い。
