　『雨柳堂夢咄』単行本の表紙カバーや口絵を飾る絵が96枚、収められています。オールカラーじゃないのが、ちと残念。画集の前半にカラーの絵が53枚収録されているのですが、これがまあ、うっとりするくらい綺麗で艶やか。カラーの絵は単行本で見ていた時もいいなあと思いましたが、本書は縦297mm、横210mmの大判サイズですから、見ごたえもまた格別。

　蓮が身にまとっている服の黒。色とりどりの草花の紫や白、赤に金銀。背景は、ぽおっと煙るような風情が漂っているかと思えば、黄金色の屏風が配されていたり……。
　色の取り合わせがとても素敵ですね。しんと心に染みてくるような、静かな絵のたたずまいがまたいいんだなあ。

　「花」「鳥」「風」「月」の四つの章立てになっていて、それぞれにふさわしい絵を飾っています。個人的に一番気に入った絵は、No.042。骨董店「雨柳堂」の中を描いた作品です。ぼあーっと透けて見える妖（あやかし）たちが、ユーモラスでかわいいんですよ。この絵について波津さん、巻末あとがきで、<<今なら面倒くさくて絶対描かない構図ですね。>>と語っています。その意味でも、これはなかなか貴重な作品なのかもしれません。

　大好きな漫画『雨柳堂夢咄』を彩ってきた絵の数々を、こうして大判の画集で見ることができたのはファン冥利に尽きます。久しぶりに、『雨柳堂夢咄』の世界に遊んだ心持ちになりました。

　『雨柳堂夢咄』の画集がついに出ましたね。
　これは、ファン必携の本だと思います。かれこれ、十年以上の連載になるそうですね。そんなになるんだなぁ…と、ページをめくりながら、しみじみ思ってしまいました。波津さんご本人も言及しておられましたが、主人公の蓮さんの顔が時の長さを物語っています。もちろん、いい意味で…。
　懐かしいものから最新のものまで、嬉しいほど、イラストが揃っています。カラーの数が多いですが、扉絵はもともとモノクロなので、モノクロも入っています。
　この画集の何がいいかというと、一冊丸ごと、「雨柳堂」一色で、しかも、波津さんの美麗なイラストをじっくり堪能できるサイズだということです。（紙の質もいいです）
　この画集を見て、つくづく感じたのは、波津彬子さんのお描きになる絵というのは、漫画というより、もはや日本画に近いのだなぁということでした。とにかく、美しいです。筆舌に尽くし難い美しさです。興味をお持ちの方は、是非、お手に取ってご覧になることをお薦めいたします。

たまに開いて眺めるだけで、なんとも言えない気持ちになります… 画集を開く度に新しい発見が(^^) カラーも素敵だけど、白黒の絵は本当に美しい! ずっと綺麗に保管したい画集です。
