”神狩りの森”の”惑いの魔女”ルヴァーのもとに暮らす赤毛の少女シフは、実はアエスティ族の元王女。しかし、義妹のベーダを刺した罪で今は追放の身。ある日、コンスタンティノポリスから王の使者レギウスがやって来て、シフを都へと導く。彼女が義妹から奪った”永遠の命”を、今は王の愛妾となり、病に臥しているベーダに返すために・・・。
　読み進めるうちにどんどん物語の中に引き込まれて、高校のころの世界史の授業を懐かしみながら一気に読んでしまいました。世界史好きの人にはオススメです！シフとレギウスの掛け合いが生き生きとしていて面白いし、シフの元王女らしからぬハチャメチャぶりもなんだか親近感が湧いて良かった。

ぶっとんだ王女シフと、超きまじめな騎士レギウスの珍道中。
と書けば、ただのギャグですが、当時の時代背景が丁寧におりこまれていて、すごく重厚でもあります。
シフの行動が突拍子もなく、一歩まちがえば、アダルトになるところをぎりぎりで抑えていて、明るい作品になっていました。
とにかくシフがすごい。
けど、その行動の裏には、ちゃんとした理由があります。
あまりに積極的な主人公に、ちょっと照れました。
全体にハラハラ？させながら、最後にホロリとさせる、そんな作品でした。

高校時代の友人が挿絵を手掛けた本です。
とりあえずもう一回、
古代ローマ時代を復習せねばならんかな、と思いました。
伏線の張り方とネタ晴らしが程よく無理なく散らしてあります。
登場人物も絞ってあるので、人名の混乱もありません。
女性一人称の小説はあまり得意ではないんですが、
これは読み通せました。
「黄金の魔女」とは…？の展開と説明は、ちょっと急ぎすぎの感あり。
神話にも詳しいとより楽しめると思います。

今後の続編にも期待して、評価は☆５つ。
