向田 邦子
昭和4(1929)年東京生れ。実践女子専門学校国語科卒業。映画雑誌編集記者を経て放送作家となりラジオ・テレビで活躍。代表作に「だいこんの花」「七人の孫」「寺内貫太郎一家」「阿修羅のごとく」「隣りの女」等がある。55年には初めての短篇小説「花の名前」「かわうそ」「犬小屋」で第83回直木賞を受賞し作家活動に入ったが、56年8月航空機事故で急逝(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

テレビドラマの脚本家として活躍していた著者による、
文筆家として初めての作品でありながら、すでに最高傑作。
その文体、構成、すべてが一級品の職人芸を思わせる。
読者は笑ったり、少ししんみりしたりしながら読み進み、
節々でその職人芸に魅せられ、思わず「うまい」と、うなってしまう。
エッセイと言うよりは短編で綴った私小説とも読め、直木賞作品と
なった「思い出トランプ」は同じ延長線上にあると言っていい。
何度読み返したかわからない一冊。　　　☆１０個。

「優しい｣が取柄の父が誉めそやされる昨今、本書には昭和の厳しいが憎めない「父｣がありありと描かれています。そんな父をたて、子供に愛を注ぐ母、実はそんな母の手の中で転がされている父。あったかい向田家の家族が生き生きとあふれている書です。
さりげない日常も向田邦子の手にかかれば、こんなにもドラマチックに書けるんだぁ〜と感嘆しました。
航空機事故で急逝した著者。本書の中に、飛行機墜落を恐れる話が二回ほど登場したのも何かの因果でしょうか。胸が痛みました。

普遍の生活のふとした違和感を文章にし、この本では記憶をたどり家族を描くことで人生への教訓が詰め込まれている。この本を読み終えた瞬間の気持ちはどの本も味合わせることができないと思う。嫌な部分がなく、皮肉めいたことも言える「向田邦子」がつまっている作品だ。へたな文だが向田さんへの尊敬の念が通じれば幸いである。
