芥川賞をとった作品なので、読んでみようかと思い、借りてみた。タイトルが何を意味するのか、わからなかったのだが、読んでみて理解できた。ちょっと、奇抜な発想なので、目をふせたくなるようなシーンもあるのだが、物語の結末は、心に迫るものがあったし、それなりに、面白かったと思う。ただ、ちょっと、文体が読みにくいところが難点か。

　話題性が無くなった１年後の現在、あえて読んでみました。客観的に受け止められるかなー、と。読む前から作者にはちょっと反感を持っていたし、オビに顔写真なんて売り方にもひるんじまいますけど。
　読んでみると、なかなかいい作品でした。関西弁の饒舌体は、それなりに必然性が感じられたし、女性の肉体性について、エロスとは別な次元でこだわった面白さを感じました。豊胸手術とか小学生のかん黙とか、現代的な事象も盛り込まれ、母子の断絶と和解を適度な湿り気で描いていました。
　作者は頭もセンスもいい人なんだなーと感じました。ついでに顔とスタイルまでいいところに、やっぱり少しむっとしますが。

この本を読んだだれもが、おそらくほとんどの人がまず感じるのは読みにくいということであり、最初の方のページでは助詞なのか単語の尾っぽなのか分別つかない「て」とか「は」に苦戦しながらも、せっかく身銭を叩いて買ったんだから、つまんないと思ったら片っ端から本を捨てるということのできる文学研究者のような身分では自分がないのだからということを思い返して、頑張って読み進めていったら、だんだん文章には慣れてきて、でもこの小説の空気感というか世界観っていうのは、この口語調に特化した関西弁の語りとは切っても切り離せない間柄であり、この語りでないと醸し出せないものもあるだろうなぁ、もしこれを標準語にして書いたら間違いなく死んでただろうなということも思えてきて、こういう関西弁を読めるリラシーを我々読者が身につけたのも、ひとえに関西のお笑い芸人がテレビに毎日映ってくれている今のような世の中のおかげだなぁということに気がついたら、改めて明石家さんまとかダウンタウンに感謝したくなってくるのだけれど、それとこの小説とは全然関係ないないと、もう一回集中力を高めて本文に集中すると、成熟したくない娘と、成熟したままでありたい母の、その二人の葛藤があって、思っていたよりおセンチな話であり、心温まる話であり、芥川賞というのも捨てたもんではないなぁと思い、小説をまねてレビューを書いてみたのだが全くうまくいかなかったのである。
