栗本 薫
別名に中島梓。東京生まれ。早稲田大学文学部卒。77年中島梓名義の「文学の輪郭」で群像新人賞評論部門を受賞。78年『ぼくらの時代』で江戸川乱歩賞受賞。以後、作家・栗本薫、評論家・中島梓を使い分けて多彩な文筆活動を展開する。小説作品は、ミステリ、SF、時代小説、耽美小説と多岐にわたる。ライフワークともいうべき一大長篇ロマン「グイン・サーガ」は、2005年に100巻を達成し、早川書房より継続刊行中(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

グインは、解決すべき問題をたくさん抱えています。その中の一つがシルヴィアですが、グッと解決（悲劇的解決？）に近づいたんでしょうか？
豹頭王の３人の花嫁のあと二人はどうなるんだろう。「七人の魔道師」によれば、グインはカリンクトゥムにも行くそうだし、まだまだやることはあるはずだが、こんなスロー・ペースで大丈夫か？？

登場する人々の内面を、細かく細かく描くのもグインの特徴です。

シルヴィアに関してはいつかどうにかして折り合いをつけないと、なんだか魚の骨が喉に刺さった感じでずっと気持ち悪いので、形はどうでもグインの心の中で決着がついたのは、次巻以降を考えると望ましい展開なのでしょう。

ヒロイックファンタジーで「弱い者」「情けない者」「歪んだ者」の内面を露悪的に見せ付けるのはあまり歓迎しません。私小説を読んでいるのではないのですから。
もちろん人間には弱い面やら情けない面やらあるのが当たり前ですから、そういう登場人物がいるのは当然でしょうが、ここまで根掘り葉掘り描写されると、ここは二巻連続ですから、少し胃もたれ気味です。

また登場人物たちのグチのオンパレードです。ハッとさせられるくだりもあるので読者として救われはしますが。
こういう内容であることは分かっていても、２０年以上楽しみに読み続けてきた物語から降りるわけにもいきません。
もしかして栗本さんは結末を書き終えてご自身が他界した際の準備を終えており、あとは自分が一番書きたいヒーロー・ヒロインたちの陰鬱とした内面を好きなだけ書き続ける気なのではないでしょうか？
不謹慎ですがこうだとでも思っていないと、このまま今のような内容が続いてある日突然中断するという不安を解消できません。
