栗本 薫
別名に中島梓。東京生まれ。早稲田大学文学部卒。77年中島梓名義の「文学の輪郭」で群像新人賞評論部門を受賞。78年『ぼくらの時代』で江戸川乱歩賞受賞。以後、作家・栗本薫、評論家・中島梓を使い分けて多彩な文筆活動を展開する。小説作品は、ミステリ、SF、時代小説、耽美小説と多岐にわたる。ライフワークともいうべき一大長篇ロマン「グイン・サーガ」は、2005年に100巻を達成し、早川書房より継続刊行中(本データはこの書籍が刊行された当時に掲載されていたものです)

スカールと分かれたあたりからストーリーの進みが遅くなった気がします。旅芸人のエピソードはいっそ外伝にしてパロに早くたどりついてほしいです。

タイスの四剣士のうちの3人をあっさりと倒したグイン。残る四人目、白のマーロールは、グインにとっても容易ではない相手で、妖術とも見まごう妖しの技を使うのであった。グインがマーロールに傷を負わせると、マーロールは、捨て台詞を残し、戦いを中止して去っていく。グインは、タイスのタイ・ソン伯爵にとって、水神祭りでの勝利のため、なくてはならない手駒になってしまっていた...

まだ、タイス篇は続行のようです。作者は楽しいのでしょう。読んでる私もまぁ、楽しくないかといわれると楽しいですが、何度も言ってますけど、「外伝にしてさっさと話を進めろ！！！」と誰かいってやってください。本当に...あとがきを読むと作者の健康状態もそうそう万全というわけではなさそうですし、まず、本編を終わらせてから、好きなだけ、外伝を書いて欲しいものです。「未完の大作」にだけはしないで....

とまぁ、愚痴もいいたくなりますが、内容的には面白いです。相変わらず正体を隠し続けるグインと、伯爵の愛人におさまってしまったマリウス、どうしようもないリギア、そして、今回は、あの人の正体が明らかになります！！！このほうがなんとなく話も落ち着いてよいものです。最初はマーロールとの戦がありますが、水神祭りの前の嵐の前の静けさって感じでしょうか。お話はほぼ進んでませんし...登場人物たちもなんだかまったりしてました。

第１１２巻はタイス脱出編かと思いきや、ハプニング（？）が起こり、簡単に失敗し軟禁状態に陥ってしまいます。しかし、グインは意外に落ち着いています。何故でしょうか？《タイスの四大剣士》を倒した後は、ガンダルしかいません。と言う事は、次回はこの両雄の対決がメインということでしょうか。そうすると一体いつタイスを抜け出しパロに出発するのでしょうか。

それにしても、スーティは可愛いです。今回も重要な役割を果たします。そのおかげで、スイラン（正体が判明します）とリギアの間も上手く行くようになります。

そう言えば、栗本薫が年末にダウンしたという報告が「あとがき」に書かれています。まだ先は長いのですから、無理をしないように、いつまでも私たちを楽しませてください。
