面白い。あの寺山修司が感動して劇団の名前に決めたという、「天井桟敷の人々」をDVDで見ていたのですが、その中に出てくるラスネールが、実在の人物だったとは!

その他、社会に適応出来ない小ロマン派の生き様。売れてる作家(バルザック等)と売れない(あるいは、遅筆の)作家で、こんなに違うか。文学界の闇も、日向と陸続き。澁澤が、この悪魔達を憐れむように言うのも、共感するものがあるのでしょうか。発明家も登場します。暗黒の伝記集です。

　1972年に出た単行本の文庫化。
　19世紀フランスの小ロマン派と呼ばれた小説家・詩人たち＋αを紹介した本。
　取り上げられているのは、エリファス・レヴィ、グザヴィエ・フォルヌレ、ペトリュス・ボレル、ピエール・フランソワ・ラスネールなど。
　いずれも日本ではほとんど知られていない人たちである。確かに、作品には見るべきものは少ないようだ。しかし、その生涯はすごく面白い。とんでもない事件を起こしたり、勝手気ままな生涯を送ったり。その面白い点をピンポイントで紹介してくれている。
　これに加えて、サド、マゾッホ、アンドレ・ブルトンなどについての文章も。　こちらでは、彼らの知られざる真の姿を描こうとしている。
